The body of William "Willy" Lynskey has been found.
Lynskey went missing in April 2017 from Vancouver, British Columbia.
There was an unconfirmed report Lynskey was seen in Fort Saskatchewan in December.
In a Facebook post on May 2 his family released the following statement:
"The Lynskey family would like to advise the caring public that William "Willy" Lynskey was located as passed on in the Banff region on April 25, 2018, and the search has ended. They wish to thank everyone for their overwhelming support during the last year, and ask that they be allowed space at this time in order to grieve and heal. Everyone's efforts were so important to the family. Thank you so much!"
Whistler RCMP issued a news release stating they were contacted by Banff RCMP reporting that human remains were found by a hiker around Lake Minnewanka on Apr.25.
An Alberta medical examiner used dental records to confirm that those remains were of the man reported missing last year, said the RCMP.
Although the cause of death has not been confirmed, it does not appear to be suspicious.
