Poor road conditions are believed to be a factor in a collision early this morning.

At about 3:15 a.m., Fort Saskatchewan RCMP were called to a collision on Highway 16 (by Highway 831). Police say a car traveling eastbound on Highway 16 crossed the median and struck a transport truck driving westbound.

The male driver of the car was taken via ambulance to an area hospital. The driver of the transport truck was not injured.

While the incident remains under investigation, police believe driving conditions contributed to the collision.

The westbound lane was detoured until the scene was cleaned up and vehicles removed. It's now open.
