RCMP are asking for the public’s help after an elderly woman was injured during a car theft in Sherwood Park on Sunday.

Police say an 88-year-old woman was walking from her car to her residence when a man approached her asking for a ride. When the woman declined, the man allegedly grabbed the keys from the woman’s hand, causing an injury to her finger.
RCMP responded to the scene of the incident on Oak Street at about 7:40 p.m.
The man allegedly fled in the woman’s car, a 2006 red Pontiac Torrent. The vehicle was recovered in Edmonton on Monday.
The woman was treated in hospital for a broken finger.
The suspect is described as 5’7” to 6’0” with a dark complexion and slim build. He reportedly spoke with an accent. He was last seen wearing a dark hoodie and pants.
Strathcona County RCMP are continuing to investigate this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Strathcona County RCMP, their local detachment, or Crime Stoppers.
