Police have laid charges on 26-year-old Faisal Arain after a scary incident in Sherwood Park.
On  Dec.23 at 11:51 p.m., the RCMP were dispatched to a 911 call of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision on Baseline Road.  A man in a stolen Mercedes Benz SUV collided with a car in an intersection, the suspect then abandoned the SUV and stole a Honda Accord from a witness who had stopped to help.
A short time later, the man crashed the Accord into a pole at the intersection of Baseline and Cloverbar Road and fled on foot.
Next, the suspect broke into a Sherwood Park house where he took keys and then a Ford Explorer. The suspect crashed the SUV into a fence and again fled on foot.
At around 2:24 a.m. on Christmas Eve, with the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Services and members of the public, the Strathcona County RCMP found the suspect male in the Clarkdale neighbourhood and arrested him without further incident.
Arian is up against 19 charges including dangerous driving causing bodily harm, impaired driving and possession of stolen property over $5000. He's also wanted on multiple warrants out of Manitoba.
A 21-year-old female driver involved in the initial collision remains in hospital with serious injuries.
Arain is in custody and scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on January 31.
