Attempted murder charges have been laid on a man previously wanted on several warrants out of Fort Saskatchewan and other areas.
The Edmonton RCMP Serious Crimes Branch, General Investigation Section (GIS) has charged George Siemens, age 34, with attempted murder in connection with a shooting incident in Devon last August.
“Back on August 18 in Devon, a single shot was fired at a vehicle. The RCMP determined that it was a man being shot at in the vehicle and an investigation was launched,” said Edmonton RCMP Corporal Laurel Scott. “We were able to identify the accused and make his arrest on January 17.”
At the time of his arrest he was already in custody at the Edmonton Remand Centre after an earlier, unrelated arrest in Barrhead last October.
Upon his arrest in Barrhead, Siemens had been wanted on multiple warrants out of Fort Saskatchewan with seven charges and multiple warrants out of Westlock, Whitecourt, Camrose and Vermillion.
“He was very fluid amongst the communities surrounding Edmonton and wanted for a variety of offences in different jurisdictions,” said Scott.
These charges were in relation to break and enters, including theft and possession of stolen property, scattered throughout Alberta in 2017. Those charges have not yet gone to court.
Anyone with tips on unsolved crimes can contact their local RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
