A man is facing charges after stealing multiple items and running from police.

On Wednesday (July 11), an RCMP officer tried to stop a vehicle after it ran a red light in Barrhead. The suspect drove to a nearby apartment and ran inside. When later leaving, Rodney Salter, 39, was arrested without incident.

Salter was driving a stolen truck at the time of his arrest. Further information led police to finding a camper that was previously reported stolen from Sherwood Park.

Charges for Salter include dangerous driving, flight from police, driving while disqualified, failing to comply with a recognizance, theft over $5,000 and two counts of possession of stolen property.

Police say Salter, from Hythe, is also a suspect in a previous truck theft from the Barrhead Ford on June 25. They believe the truck may be in the Edmonton area. Police have sent out the picture below in hopes of finding it.

Salter will be in Edmonton court next week to answer to the charges. He remains in custody.
