A local councillor will be spending some time away from council.

Town of Morinville councillor Stephen Dafoe will be taking a leave of absence from June 26 to September 10.

Dafoe in a statement on Monday (Jun.18) said that the leave was due to "personal matters".

Due to the leave being over eight weeks, council did unanimously agree to accept his request for time away.

In almost five years on council, Dafoe has yet to miss a meeting.
