A famous Canadian woman visited Sherwood Park over the weekend.

Dr. Roberta Bondar, Canada's first woman to go to space, opened her traveling exhibit 'Light in the Land - the Nature of Canada,' which displays artistic interpretations of Canadian landscapes and seas.

"It's a special Canada 150 exhibition that's traveling across Canada," said Bondar. "It consists of 14 images, one for each province and territory and one for Canada."

Each photo in the exhibit has a QR code leading to a page with an audio recording, from Bondar, to learn about the image and the particular area of Canada.

"These are places that most people can't get to and places that newer Canadians might not know exist," said Bondar. "It's an opportunity to connect people to the land."

Winning entries from the national Bondar Challenge are currently on display (showing off photos taken by students from across Canada). Three of the entries were selected from Strathcona County.

The exhibit will be at [email protected] in Sherwood Park until December 21.
