Areas of Lamont County could still use more rain.
The county’s fire advisory is still ongoing. It allows for fire pits, burn barrels with screens and fire permits (to be issued) for the burning of under 4x4-foot debris piles.
"It's mostly for awareness and prevention. Making sure people are paying attention to what they're doing and what's allowed is key," said Heather Atkinson, communications coordinator with Lamont County. "So nothing too big and making sure they're keeping their eyes on the fire."
In May, Lamont County was hit with a large grass fires north of Bruderheim.
Atkinson added the county has only had two or three fires recently and this isn’t out of the norm for the time of year.
