Local youth in Sherwood Park are encouraging reading with a popular little library at the beginning of the trail in Gilmore Park.

Grab and go libraries are becoming more popular in the area, but having kids put one up is something parent Maggie Maxwell is very proud of.

"We just unveiled it a couple days ago and the kids in our community are going to keep charge of taking donations and changing the books out," said Maxwell.

The children started the project when the girls found a book about all the little libraries in the world and decided to make their own.

"We love to read books and go to the library," said daughter Lily Maxwell.

The kids both got the opportunity to paint and decorate the library.

"There's all sorts of kids books, really really little kids books and then there's adult books," said daughter Coen Maxwell.

Both of the girls were very happy with the project and were very grateful for their papa's help.
