The Fort's fitness man is now looking to take a seat.

Former Master Warrant Officer John Bouwman has decided to get involved in municipal politics by entering the Fort Saskatchewan city council race.

Bouwman served 23 years in the military before becoming an entrepreneur and running the JohnnyB FITT gym in the Fort.

"I love the Fort, my children have all grown up here since we moved here in 1996," said Bouwman.

He is looking to run his campaign off of the platform "common sense for the City of Fort Saskatchewan."

"That's something in my opinion that's been lacking, I prefer to go with the win-win situation for everybody," added Bouwman. "Being able to come to a compromise of what's going to work but at the same time still getting the best bang for the buck for residents."

Bouwman also mentioned with his gym being closed, he now has extra time on his hands and would love to contribute however possible to the Fort.

More information on his campaign can be found through Facebook.
