A heat warning is in effect for Fort Saskatchewan and surrounding areas.
Environment Canada issued the warning on Monday morning (Jun.18).
Temperatures are expected to soar throughout the week, with highs of 29 C or above and lows in the mid-teens.
Environment Canada issues heat warnings when temperatures climb to levels that increase the risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke. People are advised to take precautions in the hot weather by rescheduling outdoor activities to cooler times of day, staying inside air-conditioned buildings and drinking plenty of water.
The warning is in effect for Elk Island National Park, Fort Saskatchewan, Sherwood Park, Edmonton, Bruderheim, Lamont, Lamont County and Sturgeon County including Bon Accord, Gibbons, Redwater and Namao.
