Residents will have to find somewhere else to swim for the next couple of months.

Harbour Pool was officially shut down on December 1 and will be closed until January 31.

Every year, the pool is closed for a period of time for annual cleaning, maintenance for mechanical equipment and replacement for any equipment that may need it. This year, Harbour Pool is closed for a more extended period as the change rooms are being re-tiled and utilities in the new universal change room are being installed.

"This just helps modernize the Harbour Pool," said Kayla Dow, acting aquatic operations supervisor.

Change room modifications were approved by council in the 2018 budget.

The pool will reopen on February 1.
