35 years ago, Harbour Pool opened its doors for the very first time in Fort Saskatchewan.
On Sunday (December 17) the pool held a birthday party with plenty of fun, while looking back on over three decades.
Guests to the pool were treated to a free swim, cupcakes and a number of other gifts.
"It's a reminder of a quality of life asset that's required in our city and how many of our residents use the swimming pool," said mayor Gale Katchur.
Although many parts and pieces of the original pool are now gone, two original dolphin figures, housed by the jacuzzi area, are still there.
"As a growing community, there was a need for a new indoor pool," explained Katchur. "It was built as a wave pool but it never did take off."
They did not follow through with the wave idea.
The birthday comes amidst some changes to the facility, including gender neutral change rooms, currently on hold.
