A local organization scored big today.
A total of $664.65 was raised during the Taste of Summer Charity Barbeque for the Fort Saskatchewan Furniture bank at Legacy Park.
"It's amazing, were just so happy and everyone here has been so supportive and it just goes to show how big of a heart this community really has," explains Jennifer Clish, president of the Furniture Bank.
The volunteer run, non-profit organization relies on furniture donations from the community to help furnish the homes of families and people in need.
Providing used furniture and household items, the organization assists anyone fleeing domestic abuse, transitioning from homelessness, seniors, refugees and immigrants who need assistance and those who have lost possessions to a catastrophic event like a fire or flood.
The next Taste of Summer Charity Barbeque will be August 23, with the all proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Club of Fort Saskatchewan.
