Gibbons School received a hefty cheque for their playground renovation.
On Thursday (May.24), MLA Colin Piquette presented the Gibbons School Parent Association with a $115,000 cheque at their Spring Concert.
“We have been fundraising for the last few years for a new playground,” said Kristine Wilkinson, the principal at Gibbons School. “Our elementary section is old, old, old so it’s time for something new.”
The renovation costs $230,000 and this donation has put the school just short of their goal.
“Our community has been very supportive in helping us with the playground,” said Wilkinson. “We are so thankful that they’re thinking of us when they’re doing grants.”
Pembina Pipeline also made a $25,000 donation to Gibbons School.
New playgrounds will be put in at both the elementary and junior high.
Construction is expected to start in mid August and will hopefully be completed by the start of the next school year.
