More projects are in the works for Gibbons.
On Wednesday (Apr.10), town council approved a 2019 capital budget of $987,539.
The yearly plan includes the completion of Williams Park-North 50 Street with paving for $538,000, as well as landscaping improvements by the outdoor rink and recognition wall.
"Our capital projects this year are more about looking to clean up some of the other work since over the past few years, we've done some very extensive capital projects," said Gibbons CAO Farrell O'Malley.
One of the more highly anticipated projects in 2019 will be the paving of the arena parking lot. At a cost of $125,000, muddy shoes in the rink will be a thing of the past next winter.
"What we want to do is make sure it's done before hockey season," O'Malley added.
In February, Gibbons council approved a 3.94 per cent tax increase.
