Budget 2019 now has a price tag in Fort Sask.

On Tuesday (Nov.13), the City of Fort Saskatchewan released their proposed 2019 operating budget of $78.6 million and a capital budget of $12.8 million. The operating budget includes all municipal operations and utilities. The capital budget reflects the city’s population growth and the delivery of services to residents.

The operating budget is up by over $1 million from 2018, while the capital budget is slightly down.

Budget deliberations will start on November 19, with more meetings to follow on November 21, 26 and 29 (if needed).

The meetings are held in council chambers from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are open to the public.

The council meeting on December 11 is scheduled for formal budget approvals.

Last year, council passed a 1.42 per cent property tax increase.
