Fort Saskatchewan's curling rink will be getting some new change rooms, a kitchen and a lounge area.
Piles are already installed for the expansion and the new foundation has been poured.
"(Curlers) will be able to curl this year in October, but the renovations wont be open until 2018," said Joey Farebrother, engineering coordinator with the City of Fort Saskatchewan.
The parking lot will be paved this month, with exterior building demolitions starting in the next two weeks.
In addition to that work, a new water service has been installed throughout the building.
