The Fort's outdoor rinks officially open to the public this week.

As of Tuesday (Nov. 28), South Fort and Pryce Alderson leisure ice surfaces are ready to skate on, with the rest opening Thursday afternoon.

City of Fort Saskatchewan parks services manager Jean Dabels said they're excited to have the rinks open.

“Please skate safely on city approved ice surfaces. Ponds are primarily for flood control and water quality improvements, so storm water ponds have a constant flow of water, which make them unsafe,” said Dabels.

Outdoor rinks are available during park hours, 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Rink shacks at Mowatt and RCMP rinks are open Monday to Friday 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and all stat holidays (except for Christmas) they are open from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
