Bitter conditions didn't stop locals from running for a good cause on Sunday morning (Sept.16).
Just over 50 participants took part in the 2018 Terry Fox Foundation Run in Fort Saskatchewan.
"To the people coming out here, realizing the importance of the event and wanting to support it, we really appreciate them coming out in the rain and cold," said Justine Wright, organizer of the run.
Participants chose between a five or 10 kilometre route.
"People just need to come and participate, that's really what it's about. If they bring donations or pledges that's a bonus, but for us it's really about the community awareness of cancer research," added Wright, who's in her eighth year or organizing the event.
As of Sunday evening, the event in Fort Saskatchewan had raised $10,000.
The Terry Fox Foundation has worked for over 30 years to achieve Fox’s vision of a world without cancer.
