40,000 smoke alarms are being recalled in Canada.

Health Canada recalled two models of Kidde dual-sensor smoke alarms (PI2010CA and PI9010CA). The alarms both have a yellow cap that may prevent sensors from detecting smoke.

"Good thing is, if you test your smoke alarms monthly you will know if they're not working properly," said Strathcona County's Fire Marshall Rodney Kuhn. "If you're having trouble with it, you can call the local fire department and we can come out and try to help you out to make sure things are working properly."

No injuries have been reported by users.

"We always say 'smoke alarms are what saves lives,'" added Kuhn.

The recalled Kidde alarms were sold between November 2016 and January 2018

Instructions on checking your smoke detector can be found here.
