Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for the area.
 
An Arctic airmass continuing to slide south over Alberta will produce extreme cold conditions Wednesday night. Cold temperatures combined with winds of 10 to 15 km/h will produce windchill values of -40 or colder. 
 
The extreme cold will last until the weekend.
 
Areas included in the warning are Fort Saskatchewan, Edmonton, Sherwood Park, Ardrossan, Bruderheim, Lamont, Gibbons, Bon Accord, Redwater and Morinville.
