A heat warning from Environment Canada will remain in place for the area.
 
A prolonged period with maximum daily temperatures reaching or exceeding 29C and minimum overnight temperatures near 14C or above will continue through at least Thursday (Jun.20).
 
The warning was originally issued on Monday morning. It's in effect for Fort Saskatchewan, Sherwood Park, Edmonton and communities in Strathcona County, Lamont County and Sturgeon County.
 
Residents of and visitors to the above warned regions are advised to take the following precautions to protect themselves, their families and their neighbours:
- Consider rescheduling outdoor activities to cooler hours of the day.
- Take frequent breaks from the heat.
- Drink plenty of water and other non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated beverages to stay hydrated.
- Do not leave any person or pet inside a closed vehicle, for any length of time.
