Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) chair Trina Boymook said the board is shocked and saddened after the death of an Ardrossan Junior Senior High student.

A student died in a two-vehicle collision on Yellowhead Trail Tuesday morning (May 29). He was one of two who passed away.

“Our focus right now is on supporting the families of those who were involved in the collision, and those who are grieving the loss of a young son, a student, a classmate and a friend,” Boymook said in a statement.

The board and the RCMP have put supports in place to help students and staff cope with the tragedy.

“We are keeping everyone impacted by this terrible event in our thoughts and in our hearts.”

Three other passengers in the collision were taken to hospital.
