School buses were cancelled on Thursday (Jan.11) and they won't run again on Friday.
 
Due to the extreme cold, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) and Elk Island Catholic Schools have cancelled both the morning and afternoon buses.
 
"Diploma exams are still proceeding," said director of communication services for EIPS Laura McNabb. "Students are expected to make every effort to come in as long as they are safe doing so."
 
If students can’t get alternate transportation, they should advise their schools as early as possible.
 
The extreme cold warning issued by Environment Canada on Wednesday is still in effect. A high of only -22 C and an extreme windchill of -40 C is expected for Friday in Fort Saskatchewan and surrounding areas.
