Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for the Fort Saskatchewan area.

“Freezing rain has been reported in Whitecourt, Stony Plain, and Barrhead this morning and is tracking southeastward towards Edmonton and the surrounding areas this morning,” the weather office said in a statement on Friday.
The freezing rain is expected to end by Friday afternoon.
Environment Canada reminds people to adjust their driving to changing road conditions and to watch for surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots to become icy and slippery.
The warning is in effect for Fort Saskatchewan, Strathcona County, Elk Island National Park, Lamont County and Sturgeon County.
