The new school in Sherwood Park should be ready be for the upcoming year.
"It's going to be a fantastic building and a great learning environment when it's finished. We plan on having classes start there on September 4th," said Steve Reid, assistant director of facility services with Elk Island Public Schools.
As of Feb.5, the basic school structure, including interior steel stud work is complete.
The original plan was for the school to be finished in August.
"We're hoping to get possession of it around the middle of July," added Reid. "Even if construction does go a couple of weeks past July, we'll still have lots of time to set it up."
Ongoing work includes the exterior steel studs, mechanical and electrical, roofing, second floor drywalling and painting.
