The Fort Saskatchewan Food Bank received a large donation from a farmers market vendor.

Sugar Mountain Cotton Candy held their Cotton Candy for a Cause campaign which raised a total of 145 pounds of non-perishable food.

The capital regions cotton candy lady, Tamara Whitton, was in charge of the project and setting up the donation bin.

"People don't really think about the food bank at this time of the year, it's more so thinking around Christmas time and the holidays," said Whitton.

Visitors were able to drop off food items in the drop-off box and receive a free treat.

Whitton would like to continue giving back to the community after the great success of this project.

"Seeing as though the turnout was really good, I'll be doing stuff like this more frequently."

She has been running Sugar Mountain Cotton Candy since 2003.
