One Fort Saskatchewan family rang in the new year in a life changing way.
Devin (last name withheld) went into labour on New Year’s Eve. After 39 hours of labour she and her husband Chris Beaton, welcomed a baby boy into the world at 2:28 p.m. on Tuesday (January 2).
Rhen Beaton was born at the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital weighing 8 lbs 3 oz.
“We’re pretty excited,” she said. “We passed over New Year’s Day but then we were very excited when he finally did arrive and even more excited to find out he was still the first of 2018.”
This is the couples first child and described parenthood so far as challenging but a good experience.
“I’m getting to watch my husband become a dad and see him transition into this new person and it’s been awesome for both of us to see how we change and love this little human we made,” she said.
They will remain in the hospital until the baby’s jaundice subsides. The couple hoped to be home over the weekend of January 6-7.
