Elk Island National Park were honouring all things bison.

On Saturday (August 19), the fourth annual Bison Festival showed off conservation, survival and cuisine.

"Elk Island is the nursery herd for bison conservation initiative around the world, so this is a great reason to celebrate," explained  Elk Island National Park's superintendent Dale Kirkland.
 
 
Festival-goers learned the vital role of the iconic beast in Indigenous culture and prairie ecosystems.
 
Music, dance and drama presentations brought bison culture to life, while guided tours and children’s activities ensured an entertaining day for all.
