Cardiff Road's reconstruction is progressing at a fair pace as contractors begin to prepare for stage two.
The road is receiving curbs and gutters along with a multi-use path to get people off the road. The shoulders are being widened as well.
"Residents who live along Cardiff Road who are on the stage one area can now access their driveways again on the temporary driving surface," said Sheila Moore, senior communications officer with Sturgeon County.
Crews are stripping the ditch on the south side of the road by Cardiff Golf and Country Club to prepare for the pathway. Construction east of 3 Avenue to east of Discovery Avenue is delayed due to a utility conflict.
Stage two of construction is expected to begin July 24 and last about a month, depending on weather.
Paving is expected to begin after the third phase is complete.
Detours through Cardiff Pittsburgh have been set up for local traffic.
