Safety is the priority and treats are the reward for Candy Cane Checkstops.
In the Fort, RCMP will be putting on Candy Cane Checkstops again this year as we get closer to Christmas.
"They are more to just raise awareness for dangerous driving, but people should also be looking out for them," said Janice Shoepp, Constable with the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP.
Members of the police force, fire department, EMS and Citizens on Patrol will be out looking for impaired drivers, while rewarding sober drivers with candy canes and goodie bags.
"Obviously if there's an infraction in some way or if we do find someone who is impaired, that will be dealt with at that time," added Shoepp.
Police will be putting extra eyes on the roads this month as December is provincially recognized as Impaired Driving Month.
