Campers can now enjoy more time in the great outdoors.
 
This year, Elk Island National Park is keeping their RV loop open for the winter.
 
"It gives people more opportunities to come to the park and explore it during a different season," said Catharine Brazeau, partnering engagement and communications officer with Elk Island National Park.
 
There are 23 sites available that are first come, first serve.
 
"The park tends to be a little quieter during our shoulder season, so it gives people a different experience with wildlife as well because their behavior of course changes throughout the year.
 
Before heading out, campers should note that:
- The cost is $4.90 per person, $8.80 for a fire permit.
- In the winter, the campground washrooms (showers) will be closed. Water will be available from the main washroom.
- There are no hook-ups for sites.
- Generator hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
 
Standard camping and the oTENTik tents will be open until the Thanksgiving weekend (October 9).
