Bruderheim is looking to increase their status in Alberta's Industrial Heartland Association (AIHA).
The town is an associate member of Alberta's Industrial Heartland Association board. That means that they sit at the table and are included in discussions, but don't have a vote when it comes to decision making.
"If you look at the map, Bruderheim is one of the municipalities completely enclosed within AIHA," explained mayor Karl Hauch. "You could argue Bruderheim is the most affected and sometimes, seemingly the least able to capitalize on opportunities."
Hauch wants to see the community's status bumped up on the board to capitalize on their position in the Heartland.
That would give Bruderheim a number of benefits, including a louder voice when it comes to what happens around them and attracting more business to the town.
Hauch also suggested a plan as to how the region will go forward in the future and compete with regions like the U.S. Gulf Coast and Virginia, rather than going from announcement to announcement.
