Bruderheim is celebrating the collaborative completion of the Karol Maschmeyer Arena.
Over $1.2-million dollars in renovations has been put  into the local arena. All of the funding was possible through numerous governments, counties and businesses.
"It's exciting for the town of Bruderheim and minor hockey since we'll have three teams this year," said Bruderheim's mayor Karl Hauch.
Some of the most noticeable upgrades include a new roof, ice plant and LED lighting throughout the arena.
"Throughout Canada, communities are adding improved infrastructure and amenities for use by residents and visitors alike,” said the HonourableNavdeepBains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister. “Here, in Bruderheim, the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program-funded Karol Maschmeyer Arena will be enjoyed for generations to come.”
Contributions over $30,000 came from the Government of Canada, Alberta Government, Pembina Pipeline, Strathcona County, City of Fort Saskatchewan and Lamont County.
The Bruderheim Arena was built in the late 60s and will continue to see many more recreational activities.
