There's already a waiting list to try out fibre internet speeds in Bruderheim.
Telus has given the Town of Bruderheim three "smart hub" devices that will serve as an interim solution until fibre internet comes to town.
"Right now, we're serviced by Shaw and a lot of businesses have said they can't upload or download fast enough so this is just an option," said Bruderheim CAO, Patty Podoborozny.
Businesses can try the device for free for a month so they can figure out whether they like it or not. Afterwards, their own device costs roughly $75 per month.
"In Vegreville, the farming community, they all use it and they're very happy with it and it's a really great solution."
Once all the businesses have had a tried it out, residents will be able to try out the device and there's already a list for the free trial.
Fibre is anticipated to reach Bruderheim when Telus's high-speed internet solution comes to Fort Saskatchewan, anticipated in 2019.
Those who wish to get on the list to try out the internet solution can contact the town.
