A mostly quiet holiday season for police was interrupted by a series of break and enters.

The Fort Saskatchewan RCMP say seven were reported from December 20 to January 2.

"The majority were related to businesses, but a couple were to residences currently under construction," said Janice Shoepp, Constable with the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP. "Most of the crimes occurred in the early morning."

Also in December, police had 14 calls reporting impaired driving, leading to two people being charged for driving intoxicated.

Shoepp believes the cold weather probably kept some troublemakers inside during a generally busy time.
