The Town of Bon Accord is making some serious changes to ensure they're ready for the future.
A friendly $1.1 million Canadian Water and Waste Water Fund grant is paying for almost half of their water reservoir expansion.
"We got approval for construction for this year and we'll have nearly double the capacity of the current reservoir," said Ken Reil, public works operations manager.
One of the main reasons to expand to reservoir to nearly 5400 cubic metres was to give the town population room to grow. The remaining $1.1 million required to finish the project was funded by a town debenture.
Construction was started near the end of May, leaving Reil optimistic for the finish date.
"We've been very fortunate, everything's going on very smooth. The completion date is for October 31 and we will either meet that or be ahead of it."
No service has been interrupted for residents and the town does think it will stay that way for the duration of construction.
