Battle Bots is going down this week at the Fort Saskatchewan Public Library (FSPL).

It's one of the many programs put in place to increase learning, building and a bit of friendly competition.

Kids in the program learn all aspects of what it takes to build with Lego Mindstorms, from their design to motor operation.

"Each robot is unique, which is exactly what we want to see with them always customizing them, changing the details, they will add swords and propellers in order to get them ready for the battle on Thursday," explained Samantha Sutherland, the children and adult programmer at FSPL.

Kids will also work on the programming of the remotes (which are connected through Bluetooth), making it easier for control during the final fight.

The winner will be crowned Thursday afternoon.
