A Fort Saskatchewan artist is getting a boost from MIX 107.

Steven Sware, also known as Baby Boy Blue, is the recipient of a $2,500 Canadian Content Development grant.

"It was crazy, getting a random phone call from Ryan (Connop) in the middle of the day telling me that I got this grant it was a huge thing to receive and it just feels great," said Sware.

Baby Boy Blue has shared the stage with Virginia to Vegas and opened for Prozzäk and Marianas Trench as a part of The MNKD.

"The hometown support, especially from MIX 107 has been crazy ever since I was 15. It's been like six to seven years of just straight support and it's been incredible," added Sware.

MIX 107 manager Brian Hagel was on hand Monday (Jun.25) to hand the cheque to Sware.

"Golden West Broadcasting and Mix 107 are proud to support local musicians, their schools and the festivals they participate in," said Hagel.

Baby Boy Blue will be taking some time off this summer as he travels across Europe.

This November, the young musician will be putting the money towards performing at Indie Week in Toronto and making new music.
