Residents moving snow with their off-road vehicles, do have some restrictions.
In the City of Fort Saskatchewan, ATVs, including quads and side-by-sides may not be used for snow removal outside of your personal property.
"A person can use a quad or something like that if it has a blade on the front to clean off their own driveway but they're not allowed on city streets," said Matt Lowther, City of Fort Saskatchewan supervisor for municipal services.
Riders must wear helmets and youth under 16 years of age are not allowed to operate an adult ATV.
"There's safety issues involved with operating them, but off-road vehicles aren't allowed on any sidewalks or public roadways," added Lowther.
In 2010, there were 5,283 ATV-related emergency department visits in Alberta.
