A tradesman is looking to make the transition into politics.
Richard Scinta of the Alberta Independence Party is vying to become the next MLA in the Strathcona-Sherwood Park riding.
"It is now a matter of making sure that things are set up and the policies are enacted and put in place for everyone — not just a select few," Scinta said. "You need to account for all people, not just a select few for your own personal agenda."
Born and raised in Alberta, he has worked as a journeyman electrician for two decades and was a volunteer firefighter.
Scinta added that he decided to run so he could make a difference in the economy.
"Just to see how my life has been affected by the way things are going and, specifically, for my daughter. I want her to come into a world where there are better chances for her," Scinta explained. "I'm very compassionate and empathetic towards people."
Advanced polls opened this week. The provincial election day is set for Tuesday (Apr.16).
