An 82-year-old woman is in hospital after being hit by a local driver.
Friday (Aug.17) around noon, a woman crossing the street in Kelowna was hit by a 48-year-old man from Fort Saskatchewan.
Witnesses at the scene said the woman landed on the hood of a red Buick Enclave before falling under the vehicle's tires. The woman suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.
"RCMP would like to acknowledge the number of bystanders who jumped in to provide first aid to the injured woman and keep her calm and as comfortable as possible while emergency medical crews responded to the scene," said RCMP Corporal Jesse O'Donaghey.
The Fort Saskatchewan man was charged for failing to yield to a pedestrian. His name was not released.
