A CN train has derailed in Sturgeon County.
The incident happened at around 1:30 p.m. in the Sturgeon Valley area. As a precautionary measure, residents were evacuated from two subdivisions, affecting 46 homes. They have since returned home.
The rail cars were carrying crude and two of the cars leaked somewhere between 30-50 litres.
CN personnel did an assessment of the area and determined that there is no apparent danger. Reportedly, 12 railway cars were involved.
Emergency services will be present and clean-up efforts will continue overnight and the next couple of days.
