A 28-year-old man from Sherwood Park is facing charges after a late-night break and enter.

On Wednesday (Oct.31) around 2 a.m., police responded to a home invasion in Cold Lake where two armed men forced their way into a residence.

A confrontation occurred with two adult victims inside. The suspects then fled with police finding and arresting Joel Thompson.

Mounties say the victims suffered minor injuries and two firearms were seized. Police stated this was not a random act.

Thompson is facing 11 charges including robbery with a firearm, assault, break and enter, disguise with intent and possession of a weapon while prohibited.

He was released with conditions and is expected to appear in Cold Lake Provincial Court on November 14.

RCMP continue to investigate and are seeking information on the second suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call their local detachment or Crime Stoppers.
