A grass fire northeast of Bruderheim (near Range Road 203 and Township Road 562) in Lamont County is contained.
This fire started around 1 p.m. on Saturday (May 12) and hot spots continue to be a challenge.
18 homes are on standby for evacuation. Some homes were evacuated on Saturday evening.
The second fire northwest of Bruderheim in Strathcona County is not under control yet, but is being held. No homes were evacuated, although multiple families chose to leave due to the smoke.
The blaze, covering over 240 hectares, is burning just south of Township Road 564A between Range Road 212 and Highway 830.
This fire started about an hour before the fire in Lamont County.
Wind and heat continue to be a challenge for firefighters in both circumstances.
Drivers are asked to keep vehicles away from areas affected by the fires.
