Fort Saskatchewan Municipal Enforcement have a few friendly reminders for pets owners.
First, pick up after your pet. Municipal enforcement have been handing out keychains with waste bags inside.
"Right now we are doing more education than enforcing," said City of Fort Saskatchewan municipal enforcement supervisor, Matt Lowther.
If you're caught not picking up the waste, there's a $150 fine.
"Nobody needs to see the waste on the sidewalk. It's disgusting to look at and of course it smells bad and it could spread disease."
Lowther is also pushing for people to keep pets on leashes when walking them, as well as licensing the animal. This way, the RCMP can return lost pets much faster.

"We certainly don't want to fine people for doing something that should just be common sense," Lowther said.

People can take their pet information to City Hall to get them licensed.
