A fire advisory is in effect for Strathcona County.

The recent warm weather and lack of precipitation have caused dry conditions, creating an increased risk of wildfire.

The advisory ban all fires except for recreational fires in covered pits, approved fire pits in recognized campgrounds and propane/natural gas appliances.

No other fires are permitted until further notice, including burning barrels and fireworks.

Over the last 48 hours, fire crews have responded to 10 uncontrolled fires in Strathcona County.

Not following these rules could result in a $1,000 fine and charges for the cost of responses.
