High school track and field success continues for a local senior.
Wesley Calef, Grade 12 student at Bev Facey High School, competed in his last year of High School track and field hoping to seal a gold at High School Provincials.
At the provincial meet at Edmonton’s Foote Field, Calef took gold with a jump of two metres.
After the divisional meet, qualifiers then advance to the Metro Edmonton Zone meet— from which the top two in each event qualify to go on to provincials.
He has set a new Bev Facey Senior Boys High Jump record with his personal best 2.05 metre jump at divisionals.
Calef has secured himself a qualifying spot at the Junior Canadian National meet in Ottawa from July 6-9.
Even though the future is unknown for Calef, he does have an offer from the University of Alberta track team for the upcoming fall.
If Wesley pursues becoming a Golden Bear he would join his brother Brendan on the track team.
